Jane Mortifee Live at Blue Frog Studios

Jane Mortifee has been active in theatre, film, television and the studios doing voice-overs, jingles, and animated series for over forty years. She has been nominated for an Actra Award and three Jessie Awards for her work in ‘John Gray’s Rock and Roll’ and ‘Don Messer’s Jubilee’ and Ann Mortifee’s ‘Reflections on Crooked Walking’. Jane has also been nominated for a Westcoast Music Award, a Woman of Distinction Award and was inducted into the B.C. Entertainment Hall of Fame on November 11, 2002. In addition to her three recorded CDs, Jane has also performed in numerous other theatrical productions including ‘Cabaret’, ‘Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris’, ‘Godspell’, ‘A Closer Walk with PatsyCline’ and Ann Mortifee’s ‘When The Rains Come’, among others. She has appeared in episodic television productions and feature films including the acclaimed ‘My American Cousin’. She has also performed in many solo concerts, as well as in various club bands over the years. Joining Jane in concert are three of Vancouver’s finest musicians: Bill Sample: Bill Sample has been a force in the West Coast music scene for many years. Our third annual “Trading a Gun for a Guitar” event will be held at the St. James Community Square in Vancouver on November 17th, at 6:30pm. We are fundraising for our first project: a community centre to be built in Kabala, Sierra Leone, West Africa. One of our founders, Fazineh Keita, was a child soldier during that country’s civil war, and knows well the after-effects and healing that need to happen. Our goal is to provide this community with a medical clinic, a clean water well, food, education, skills training and art and sport therapy programs to give opportunities and break the cycles of violence and poverty from being passed down generationally. Jane Mortifee and Friends at Harmony Arts Festival

Catch Darlene as she sings background vocals for Jane Mortifee. For over 40 years, Jane has found artistic expression in theatre, film, television and as a singer. She has released three CDs and for many years she was one of Vancouver’s top voice-over actors, jingle performers and a session singer for recording artists. Jane has performed with David Foster, Tom Jones, Paul Anka, John Denver and Ray Charles, to name a few. She has published her first novel, Out Of The Fire, which is set in Africa, and is currently working on her second novel. She has been nominated for three Jessie Awards, an ACTRA Award, a Westcoast Music Award, a Woman of Distinction Award and was inducted into the BC Entertainment Hall of Fame in 2002.
